I like watching the “Klai-baan” show on YouTube (less so in the recent episodes). Especially, when Ja could give a bit more insight on the background stories of sometimes the host, and sometimes the interviewees. The program makes me feel almost like I am their close friends. In fact, I am not. Kru-Kla who wrote this book “Miss Italy” was on the show many times and I like almost every episodes that he (or she) on the show because he spent most of his life studying everything about Italy - the language, the culture, the food, …
When I heard that Kru Kla is writing a book, I am very curious to read whatever it’s about but the book was published in very limited number and also demand was high. I didn’t even think to try to buy one.
At the beginning May, we started our 3-week tour of Italy on my Volkswagen Polo. Mook, whom we picked up from Frankfurt along the way to Dolomite, coincidentally came with the book “Miss Italy”. Both me and Ja were very excited to have our hands on this book. Immediately, Mook, Ja and myself started taking turns reading the book. The book showed its age quickly with 3 readers, 3 bookmarks. It was fun to learn Italian trivia whether it’s about espresso, pizza, wine, Bologna, history, language while driving across Italy. We tasted italian wines from the north to the south - Alto Adige, Liguria, Piedmont, Tuscany, Lazio, Puglia.
Halfway into the trip, I need to up my reading pace to catch with end that is approaching. A good book, good companions can create a perfect pairing rooting good memories.
